Phu Quoc’s new international airport: smart gateway for Asia

To meet the growing demand for air travel and prepare for major events such as APEC 2027, Phu Quoc is building a new international airport in the south of the island.

• Location & Scale: The new airport covers over 1,000 hectares, features 2 runways (3,300 m & 3,500 m), and over 100 aircraft stands – including 45 for wide-body aircraft like Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.
• Architectural Vision: Designed by CPG Consultants (Singapore), the terminal draws inspiration from the phoenix – symbolizing prosperity and renewal.
• Technology Integration: The airport will feature biometric boarding gates, remote check-in, AI-powered baggage systems, and smart traffic flow – ensuring world-class efficiency.
• VIP Terminal: A separate VIP terminal designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti, shaped like a sea eagle, will serve heads of state and international delegations.
• Capacity & Timeline: 20 million passengers/year by 2027; 50 million by 2050. Total investment: 22,000 billion VND (~900 million USD).

Sun PhuQuoc Airways – Resort-in-the-Sky Model

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is Vietnam’s first luxury resort airline, licensed in May 2025. It pioneers the “resort in the sky” model – integrating travel, experience, and destination.

• Domestic & International Routes: SPA connects Phu Quoc with Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and international markets including Japan, South Korea, and China.
